In August's Creative Mornings, I give a talk that's focused on Creative Mornings' global theme, Nakhlah. I dive into my career journey, from an inexperienced pre-press tech to a graphic designer to a photographer. I touch on threads that have always presented themselves in my work, and how they inform my growth and what I look for in the work I hope to create.
Nakhlah is an Arabic word meaning palm tree, but also holds many metaphorical themes. The Khobar chapter of Creative Mornings had this to say about the theme: “This theme is a tribute to resilience, generosity, and rooted creativity — symbolized by one of the most iconic trees in Arab culture. The palm thrives in tough conditions — just like creativity under pressure. The date palm is deeply woven into Saudi identity, found on the national emblem and in everyday life — from food to folklore.”
