PEOPLE
Forming connections is an instinctual and necessary part of life, and genuine human connections can be some of the most wonderful and fruitful ones to be a part of. In my experience as a photographer, it is through a 1.5lb machine that I make some of the most personal connections with people. There is a level of mutual interest and trust that both the subject and photographer must have in one another. This kind of reciprocal bond can be formed upon the initial meeting if it’s strictly a business relationship. In other instances, this could be a new bond amongst old friends if the dynamic of the model-photographer is newly introduced into the relationship. No matter the circumstance, the connection that comes with portrait photography is its most important element to me. If one cannot connect to a photo, it’s very difficult to care about it.
