Let's Get Close and Intimate. Capturing Details in Nature Photography with a Telephoto Lens

Who says you need wide-angle lenses to capture dynamic landscape photos?

Often, when we think of landscape and nature photography, we conjure images of photos taken with wide-angle lenses, featuring grand views and epic skies. But what happens when those skies aren't epic, or when the light and conditions aren't ideal? It can be difficult to create captivating photos with a clear blue sky or capture pleasing images when harsh light creates extreme contrast in the scene.

That's why I truly believe practicing landscape photography with a telephoto lens can transform a less-than-ideal outing into a day of photographing the beautiful details that are frequently overlooked in nature. In this video, I break down some of my favorite telephoto shots and talk about what I look for when photographing the details.
